High Tunnel System
Miller Farm obtained funds for building a high tunnel through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) under U.S. Department of Agriculture. We began our construction work in November 2016. It's an exciting moment for all of us!
According to EQIP information, a High Tunnel System helps producers:
-
Extend the growing season
-
Improve plant quality and soil quality
-
Reduce nutrient and pesticide transportation
-
Improve air quality through reduced transportation inputs
-
Reduce energy use by providing consumers with a local source of fresh produce"

Construction Process
The construction of this high tunnel system was led by students and done by students and community members. Though it took a lot of physical labor, we enjoyed the time working together as a group and made the high tunnel come true!
